European Expats how will Brexit affect you?

Have relations in Spain wondering what will happen? Anyone else or in France, Italy, Portugal or elsewhere heard any scenarios? Uncertain times.

All such administration will be done on-line with no need to rock up unless something well out of the ordinary is involved - even that third-rate, third-world stagnant, pervert-ridden backwater of a country Thailand now offers the option for forenigers to manage their visas on-line, so the EU won't be far behind.

Been asked to sign citizenship forms for worried Poles in the last 24 hours. Told 'em, why bother, get to Frankfurt or Dublin, follow the money.

I wonder if there will be a new rush of immigration with people anticipating tighter border control and trying to get into the country before anything is implemented.

Likewise I wonder if it'll speed up anyone's desire to emigrate from Great Britain.

I will be in the office in Copenhagen on Monday morning and I can assure you I will not be arrested by the Danish police and marched to t the airport for deportation.

If however I am wrong and the Remain camp is right I will not hesitate to update WHO immediately, provided I can still type with the handcuffs on.

Like me, you'll have to wait and see,

There is not one single person who knows how this will all turn out. We truly live in interesting times.

I'm in Norway, which has one foot in and one foot out of the union. That's probably what most back home would prefer, but I'm not sure it will ever be possible for Blighty...not now.


I didn't vote, as I don't live there anymore, so I didn't think it was right to. I put my faith in the great British public to use their combined wisdom to choose the right way.

The main issues at the moment is the state of the exchange rate drop 20 points in the last few months since this vote was declared and would expect it to go more. Although this is good for UK exports.

In the longer term its if i wanted to sell my property in Spain and take the money out of the EU back to UK there will be high taxes to pay.

Expat retirees here already worried there pensions have just been de valued courtesy of the crash in the pound, wont be the first cut they receive either!!!! Any cuts or changes to benefits and pensions in the UK will apply to them! At least they can access Medicare, the equivalent of the NHS, well for now anyway…………

Happy Days eh, and now the right wing of the Tory party look to be taking control you can be sure it will be ordinary working people and retirees who suffer and bare the cost of the “new” Britain.

I will almost certainly apply for Dutch citizenship. Returning to the dark old day of having to report to the police to apply for a residence/work permit every 6 months is not an option. That way I also get a vote again after 30 years of being frozen out by that bitch Thatcher's poll-tax.
